Going to sleep until November 5th
I think I've finally figured out what has been bothering me so much about this election, and talking with my family (no, not you Shari) about politics. It keeps coming down to "spreading the wealth around" and how my parents think that is so wrong.
You know, Lee and I make good wages. We have enough to live on, we put some in savings, and we get to have fun. And I WANT to give some of it away to those who have less. To want to give when you have more than you need, to me that is the definition of humanity. To have wealth and not share, to say "it's mine" and see others suffer and struggle, how can that make people happy? How can people sleep at night knowing that they have more than enough, and others don't?
God, this sounds so elementary and simplistic. I'm not stupid, and I know that things aren't this simple, but I work with such *filthy* rich people that never give back and I'm really, really, really sick of seeing exactly how much tax they DON'T pay.
