003: [visual, open] "No reason to get excited," the thief [s]he kindly spoke.

Gwen's been itching to get out of the sanctuary, so the breath of fresh Taxon air is actually welcome.  Hey, she even fired up LISA for this special getting-out occasion. The cute little regulating device is latched onto her back, making her all safe and people friendly. She hopes.  She's...not exactly sure it's going to hold up, seeing as Taxon ( Read more... )

"Oh, that sounds like it hurt," Sylar drawled as he grinned at the image on his tablet. The old shop had perhaps been the last place that he ever would have imaged finding here, and it was perhaps the last place that he wanted to stay. But there weren't many other options available. So, at the moment, he was leaning back in his old desk chair, the odd electronic device in hand, as he observed the request that was being made. "Guessing you don't ask for help much."

Certainly didn't sound like it from that resigned sigh that had accompanied the statement. No other options in hand meant going out of house, and not doing things on your own meant that you had to trust someone else to do them right. And that... That have the tendency to end badly.

"Exactly what kind of little tech thing are we talking about?"

Not that it mattered. His ability was working, as far as he could see, on everything that wasn't related to this damn place.

Oh, lookie. The new guy, popping in with some helpful unsympathetic observations that she will respond to with a glare. She didn't need anyone rubbing in the fact that she was appealing to the masses. Hey, she always was able to get by on her own, and pretty smoothly at that. She was taking a giant leap with requesting a helping hand, Sylar had that much right. Usually someone got fried. Luckily for Gwen? She was usually the one doing the frying.

So, this in mind, she stares at the screen for a second, considering him. He wouldn't have chimed in if he wasn't at least a little tech-savvy. So she'll throw a bone or two. "Military ops device. It regulates body chemistry. Mine, specifically."

...In a nutshell.

"Bio-electrical or chemical diffusion?" The question tripped off his tongue without a bit of effort. Those were the two most obvious choices to 'regulate body chemistry'. Chemical drips had been what they'd been using to keep the special prisoners docile, but that was hardly a type of regulation that someone would want. He was going to wager on it being the former. "Not that it really matters in the long run. But it doesn't hurt to be well informed."

Was that an offer? Yes, I think it was however subtle it might have been. Of course, it wasn't like he was just going to come right out and offer self-less help to someone. But, of course, if they asked, who was he to decline?

Not to mention he would mind working on something that might actually keep him busy for more than a minute or two at a time.

And to her surprise, new guy wasn't just there to point out her hesitant plea for help. Well, not just there for that, anyway. She usually let the lab coats figure out all the technical stuff, but figured 'bio-electrical' sounds about right, so what the hell?

"I'm gonna go with the first one. You know what? Here." The screen jumped a little as she switched hands and reached behind her back. Carefully, the hand returned with the small, silver device in the palm. "Regulates body heat, heartbeat, chemistry, all that fun stuff. Worked all fine and dandy before," she explained, albeit a little more hesitantly. "But like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if this place decided to screw me over some more."

"I'll take a look at it," Cordelia says, just because she wants to be annoying. "How much does it cost, anyway?"

Oh, yeah right.

"Lots. And it's not a toy, honey. Maybe we should let the big boys and girls have a hack at it."

"What? I'm appalled. Really. Appalled. Here I am, offering my help, and it gets slapped right back to my face."

Kidding, kidding. Mostly.

"What can I say? You don't strike me as really tech-savvy. It's pretty shiny. You might get distracted."

A tiny smirk. What? It's fun.

"Tech?" he questions curiously. He hums a bit in thought, then continues, "I'm quite fond of tech." Presuming it was more high-tech than Earth technology in 2006. Something more fun to poke his nose into could be interesting.

"Great. That makes one of us," she replies, a little wary. "I just want to be sure this place hasn't tampered with it."

"So then you don't know how it's supposed to be? If it's been tampered with, you should know. It's your tech after all." How can someone own something and not know how it gets effected? Unless she swiped it from another person before she got here. Hn.

She gives him a look. Yeah, it sure is hers. She might've known a little more about it if she'd actually made it, but hey, what is she going to do? She couldn't exactly write a letter to the company that designed it. 'By the way, remember that weapon I stole right under your noses? Yeah, how's that work in Alienville?'

"I'll know if it stops working. And if that happens? There's probably an electrocuted body around. That's not really a risk I feel like taking."
