It's done. Toby almost feels lighter, being away from the bulk of Taxon's people - but also knowing that Dean is going to be okay. Sure, there's the Supreme Takeover to worry about, but in typical Toby fashion he chooses not to see the gravity of it. At least for now. He wants to be where his head won't be filled with hundreds of thoughts that aren ( Read more... )

And isn't it just a perfect day to go to the beach? Thanks to Willow's clickety-clicking of the tablet, the location of the beach is clearly marked for her - and Cordelia, bored with hatching stuff, decided it would be great to start wandering about.

Which explains why she is now at the beach.

"This is so weird," she mutters. Alien people bringing this strip of Sunnydale into alien-land? Still weird. Will always be weird, in her opinion.

Cordelia looks around her - and spots a man sitting on the sand. "Hey," she calls out. "You're... uh, not one of those creepy NPCs or whatever, are you?"

The female voice breaking the mesmerizing sound of the waves catches Toby's attention, its owner's question bringing out a small grin. He turns his head to look at her, raising his right hand to show the metal band around his wrist.

"Not as far as I know. It's safe."

"Oh thank god," she replies, grinning right back. Cordelia takes a few steps towards him. "I think if I encounter one of those weirdos out here, I'm gonna punch him or her in the nose. 'Coz they have. Noses."

Toby looks amused, nodding. "You're right, they have noses. I wonder if they'd hit back."

He glances down the beach, nodding to indicate a man who he swears has been pacing there for the last ten minutes. "Let's just hope they stay on that side of the beach, huh?"

"Well, if they're good and all - they shouldn't. Or, even better - probably disappear? But that's just wishful thinking on my part."

She holds out her hand for him to shake. "Cordelia Chase."

He shakes her hand, smiling. "Cordelia. Nice name. Toby Logan, nice to meet you."

"Same here. Except, you know. The being 'kidnapped and brought in a weird place' part?"

Cordelia chooses a spot on the sand to sit on - not very close to Toby, but near enough so they can talk above the sound of the waves without raising their voices too much. "So. How long have you been here?"

"Yeah, that." He turns back to the water when she sits down, looking at her when she speaks again. Blocking out thoughts right now seems to be easier, like it had been before the visions started coming, and he's glad for that.

"Uhh... wow, little over a month now. Almost two. You?"

"A few days ago," she replies. "Probably a week, now? I dunno. I was... busy. Getting to know the hatches, you know?" Which means abusing them to no end. Except there is an end, and Cordelia has reached it.

Truth be told, she is now bored of it.

Toby grins a tiny bit when she says that. Now he knows why she's vaguely familiar.

"Oh, you were the one with all the, uh... stuff recently, right?"

Cordelia bursts out laughing at that.

"You saw that? Oh my god," she says. "It makes me look so much like a loser, doesn't it?"

"Nah, not at all." He's still looking amused. "Crazy what those things can spit out for free, huh?"

"The Spring Collection was nice. They were to die for, literally. Do you know how much that costs in L.A.?" Cordelia gushes.

Then her smile dims a bit. "Still, it's... I dunno. It becomes boring, too, after some time."

Toby nods.

"Yeah... I know what you mean."

"So... what do you do for fun?"

'Hi, I'm Cordelia - what do you do for fun?' is usually her line to everyone these days. Sigh.

Shrug. "Back home I'm a Paramedic, so that's its own brand of free-time-eating adrenaline-junkie fun. Here... I dunno, anything that isn't boring, to be honest."

Because after two months, you stop being picky about entertainment.
