It's done. Toby almost feels lighter, being away from the bulk of Taxon's people - but also knowing that Dean is going to be okay. Sure, there's the Supreme Takeover to worry about, but in typical Toby fashion he chooses not to see the gravity of it. At least for now. He wants to be where his head won't be filled with hundreds of thoughts that aren't his.
He's already walked most of the beach's length, tabletless, eyes closed. He remembers going to the beach a long time ago, when he'd been set up with foster parents near the coast. Red sand, high tides, KAYAKING, seagulls. That's the last time he can remember, though, so being on this beach right now is so alien it's almost comforting. Sure, they've got the Great Lakes in his part of Canada; beaches, boardwalks, pretending not to be landlocked, but it's not the same as the pull of the ocean's waves.
Okay... so maybe it's not a real ocean in this place, but it's definitely close enough to it.
When Toby finally opens his eyes and looks around, he can see a house not far away. He stops, hands in his pockets, and looks at it for a minute before turning around and looking back the way he came. The sky is perfect, as always, sun shining down on the sand and casting shadows into the footprints he's left behind him. There are a few of those pod people (as Dean had called them, and the name stuck) milling about, too. Toby curiously glances back at the house again before sitting in the sand, just out of the water's reach, resting his arms and his chin on his knees.
