039 ± [visual | location: the northern island] all us snakes find our tails pretty damn tasty

When Glitch awoke, he knew the following: that he was in Taxon, in the palace, in his own room, in his own bed, his limbs were comfortably entangled with DG's, his right shoulder ached a bit but that was typical and would fade as the day went on, and that there was a lengthy list of things he wanted to accomplish. When plans for how to organize and ( Read more... )

"Brainier, huh?"

Willow looked mildly amused when she replied, smiling at the look on Glitch's face, even though she was a bit worried about him. If it really was hamster-related, she wasn't sure it would be a good thing.

"Very," Glitch replied with a nod. "A whole one instead of half. I'm going to get so much thinking done."

Seriously: having logical thought patterns is grossly underrated.

"Oh. I-I guess that does change things, huh?"

Also interesting.

"Did you just... wake up like this, then? Random hamster-given thing?"

"I don't think it's changed too much."

And he gave her one of his bright smiles. See? Same old Glitch.

"Yes, just woke up with it. They've given me my brain back before, a long time ago, but it had all my old memories then, and now it's just keeping things from getting mixed up."

Same old smile, same old Glitch.

"Wow... Kinda makes you wonder what they're doing with it."

Sob, sorry for the downer, Glitch. Willow is just not one for taking things like this as good omens. Not from the hamsters.

"Do you... think it's just temporary?"

Glitch shrugged. He'd always been one of the more complacent citizens of Taxon, at least until people started getting hurt or killed or what-have-you, so he could feign taking it in his stride. The truth was literally un-tellable, and while he certainly had concerns about that at the moment he was more focused on the ends than the means.

"I'm just about positive it is," he lied. "Last time it was only a week which is pretty typical for things that happen."

Still not calling them glitches.

Willow nodded in response. Made sense to her! She had no idea he might have been lying to her at all, so she took it completely at face value.

"Sounds about normal, then," she answered. "Guess you'll have to do your best with it for as long as you've got it!"

No reason she should suspect it either. Still, he's quietly relieved that the story is working for now. When the week is up, or the two weeks, or the month...well, he had plenty of time to work something out.

"That's the plan," Glitch agreed with a grin and a nod. "Maybe look back over my notes to see if there's anything I missed about...anything."

Ah, the ongoing plans for escaping or otherwise affecting the environment. It's so cute when they're hopeful about that.

"That's a good idea. Maybe we could compare notes sometime?"

Having someone else to talk to about this sort of thing would just make Willow's life here in Taxon so much nicer. And she looks pretty excited about the prospect, too!
