[OOC: Claire just found out that Ashley has left the city, and has decided to have a dinner for Helen so that she knows she has a support system in Taxon. If your character is friends with Helen or lives in the Sanctuary, then they're more than welcome to RSVP here, or just mention the dinner in their interactions. I spoke to Helen!mun and we've decided to hand wave the actual dinner, so no one has to worry about missing that.]
It wasn't that Claire simply felt sorry for Helen; she was terrified that someday she would end up like her. She understood how hard it had to be waking up to find that someone you loved was missing, and realizing that you were the only person still around from your home. As someone who checked her tablet as soon as she woke up in the morning to make sure that her own family hadn't disappeared, Claire hated knowing that this had happened to Helen.
No one but the mysterious Taxon aliens could change what had happened, but the rest of them could make sure that Helen knew she wasn't alone. They could let her know that they were there for her, and they could get along with each other and not make things more difficult for her than they had to be. So when Claire turned on her tablet, it was with the hope that 1) this was something Helen would enjoy and 2) everyone could behave themselves long enough to give her a night of peace.
"Hey everyone," she started, careful to look down at the screen so that she gave whoever was listening her full attention. "Dr. Magnus' daughter, Ashley, disappeared from the city a few days ago. Dr. Magnus is handling it as best she can, but now she's the only one here from the Sanctuary, and I know how I'd feel if I was her." She wasn't going to get into that. No one wanted to be the last one standing, especially if that meant outliving their child, twice.
Claire sighed, pushing herself past that thought. "I'm making dinner at the Sanctuary For All tonight, and if you're friends with Helen, or you live in the Sanctuary, please try to come - even if it's just for coffee or something. Dinner will be ready around six." She paused, and even though she didn't want to add this part, she did, for Helen's sake.
"And yes, Gabriel, you're invited." As much as she hated calling him that, now that she'd told the Doctor about what Sylar had done, she had to be better about calling him by his given name in public.
The things she did for her loved ones. Sometimes Claire didn't understand it herself, and this time, she didn't want to.
