”Echo, would you like a treatment?”Echo looked up, lowering her paintbrush and giving a small acknowledging nod before getting up from the floor; letting her handler lead her upstairs to the imprint room. She felt the pain in each imprint; the added memories becoming part of her already collective mind. At first it had been hard to sort through ( Read more... )

No way. That's about all Topher could think. Still, though, he had a sort of duty to Echo, didn't he? And maybe she was an excuse to rebuild the system. He'd been wondering if he could, here.

"Hey - Echo? Pick up the phone thingy on the pedestal. I'm not in the room, but you should be able to see me."

"Topher?" Echo looked around, figuring that the piece of technology she'd seen must have been the 'phone thingy'. Like Topher said, she could see him. Which was good, she hoped.

"Is it time for my treatment?" There was something next to the phone, something which was familiar: one of the imprint wedges. Setting the phone down for a moment Echo picked it up and turned it around in her hands, reading the name: Caroline. Her wedge had come with her? That wasn't the only strange thing going on right now, or lately.

"Heyyy there... No, not really. We're not at the Dollhouse, so I can't do a treatment here."

Mmm, that was possibly too blunt. They needed soft.

"Yet. I'm working on it." Not technically true, but he would start as soon as she'd been settled into a room. "But so far you're the first one here. Now, you need to pick up - is that an imprint wedge?"

He wasn't actually asking her, but he got closer to the screen and enlarged it to see more clearly.

Echo understood that regardless of how he'd put it. There was no Dollhouse or a chair, which didn't sound good but currently she was in no position to do anything.

"It has a name on it." Turning it round so that Topher could see Echo picked the phone back up, keeping it in her hand as she watched his face.

"This place doesn't look nice." A caged in space that didn't look like it lead to anywhere definitely wasn't nice.

"Caroline..." Topher read it aloud, before muttering under his breath. "Perfect."

"Um, it's not super nice in there, no, but there are some nice rooms to sleep in if you head out the door... and there are places -" He wasn't sure how to explain the hatches to her.

"You know what? I'm going to hop on a train and come over there, okay?"

"That sounds nice." Getting a proper explanation? That was doubtful, at least from Topher anyway. Someone else may possibly be able to help her.

It took him about 20 minutes, but Topher did come to the Sanctuary and find her.

"Hey! Echo... did you find a room here?"

Echo hadn't gone far by the time that Topher had gotten to her, and gave a little shake of her head. "I haven't looked."

"Okay, well... you just find one that's empty," Topher had whipped out his tablet and flicked to the map of the Sanctuary. He assumed Echo would follow as he started down the hallway and turned into another, where there were some empty rooms.

"And then you just put your hand in the pad, to open it and to claim it as yours." He mimed without actually touching it, and then gestured her to do so.

"I don't think that I'd like to be alone." Not after being used to having people around her, especially when she didn't particularly know how to look after herself; or so Topher would think.

Yeah, he hadn't really thought of that. He figured he'd be down regularly, but yeah - food and such.

"Actually... hmm." Maybe a hotel? But then, there was still so much to explain to her. More than ever, he wished he hada chair, so he could give her at least the vestiges of a personality, and the skills required to live on her own. He hesitated to offer it, but he did have a second bedroom in his loft.

"Maybe you could stay with me for a little while, until we find you somewhere to live, and I build a chair so you can have a treatment?"

"A treatment would be nice. You can make me help." Saying that would hopefully not surprise him since before her composite event she'd said the same thing before in regards to the spy at the Dollhouse.

"Yeah, okay. Um. You have your tablet?"

When he imagined bringing girls home, this was definitely not the situation he had in mind. Why couldn't Boyd be here? He was better - he'd even been her handler. But no, it was just him. Topher resolved to build that chair ASAP.

"Yes." And the imprint wedge, which she was going to hold onto. Somehow. Echo didn't plan on giving it to Topher. "Is there anyone else?"

"There are other people here, but not people you know. Not yet anyways, maybe soon there will be more - I... don't really know. But anyway, I live this way, so..."
Topher set off again, gesturing her to follow. Once outside the Sanctuary, he led her onto one of the trains. Now would be a good time for conversation, but really? Dolls really didn't have that much to say, so he figured she'd break the silence if she wanted to.

Echo set off following him, giving a curious look round everywhere they went to try and familiarise herself with the place or to work something out.

"This place looks nice."
