”Echo, would you like a treatment?”

Echo looked up, lowering her paintbrush and giving a small acknowledging nod before getting up from the floor; letting her handler lead her upstairs to the imprint room. She felt the pain in each imprint; the added memories becoming part of her already collective mind. At first it had been hard to sort through them, to keep each memory separate from the next and each personality individual: it was easy to slip in and out of each like a dress and now there would be another.

“I think afterwards I’ll go for a swim.”

”That sounds very nice.”

Echo was used to hearing the same complacent reply, some more unfeeling than the rest. Tabula rasa it was unnoticeable but to a person it made a difference; one that she couldn’t let on. The stairs leading up to the upper level of their part of the building were a quick task. Topher was free and waiting, inviting Echo into the chair and assuring her that it wouldn’t take long. She let her eyes glance for a minute, the familiar preparations and the tilt of the chair as it leaned backwards to imprint her. Closing her eyes, memories flashed through her mind as she slipped into someone else. Juggling them briefly Echo made sure that she could easily slip back out as she did each time but on opening her eyes Echo was not faced with the imprint room.

“Hello?” Echo found herself in a cylindrical shaped room, something that looked unfamiliar to any part of the dollhouse. For the moment as she looked around the room she kept the mannerisms of her imprint about her, though once she quickly realised that there was no one around she slipped back to tabula rasa, stepping out of the cylinder into the main room.

“Hello? I’m supposed to be having a treatment.” Echo spoke in case anyone could hear: which seemed doubtful with how the room looked; there were one or two objects in the room, though nothing that seemed significant to her. A piece of technology on a sort of pedestal but no obvious means of exit; this wasn’t looking good.

“Hello?” Echo tried one final time, though it seemed as hopeless as the previous attempt. If no one answered this time Echo could always see which skills she could use.
