Overheard in the elevator at work

Blonde: There is one God. I don't have any idols of Jesus.
Indian woman: What?
Blonde: Not everyone has idols of Jesus.
Indian woman: Idols of...?
Blonde: Like images of Jesus. Idols of Jesus. It's a Catholic thing.
....
Indian woman: I have a cross!
Blonde: Oh, I have a cross! My brother got it for me.

I'm not religious, but how is a cross not an idol of Jesus?
