Eliajah Lee

Most of you have probably heard by now that Elijah Lee was born on January 22, 2006 at 5:03 PM. He was 8 lbs 11 oz and 21 inches long. It was a very easy delivery, IMO. We went in to the hospital at 1 AM and got checked in. The nurse asked a million questions and then got my IV started (it took 3 nurses and 5 tries due to my anemia). They hooked me up to all the external monitors and found that I was already having contractions, they contributed them mostly to my being dehydrated though. At 3:30 AM they gave me Cytotex to help my cervix soften and around around 11 AM they started me on Pitocin to get the contractions going better. (I got an epidural as well but I don't remember at what time.) The nurse was having a hard time getting a good reading from the external monitor so finally put in an internal monitor to track my contractions. She quickly found that my contractions were about twice as hard as they thought so she had to turn down the Pitocin. Around 4:30 PM the doctor came in to check things out as the nurse felt the baby was in the optimal position to start pushing and he agreed. I pushed through 4 contractions with the nurse and then she had me stop to wait on the doctor to get back in the room (he had gone for coffee thinking it would take a bit longer). Once the doctor came back in I only pushed for another three contractions and we had our baby boy.
