I must say, I never expected this response and it made me so happy! I admire you so much, I felt kind of silly writing that comment. :P So yes, your reply made me so elated!

Oh my gosh, the fact that you found A Single Man at my blog is just the BEST ever. I do not know anyone else who likes that movie. I think it is really easy for some one to overlook it and just be like "meh, it's just a cinematic film" but I think that it has so much beauty and heart to it. The music as well is just so elegant and I find the characters to be wonderful. Glad you like it too!

So yes, I would love if you added me! And I have done so with you as well.

Oh, and I meant what I said about your art. I really would love to have one of them. ^^ I realize that it may be inconvenient for you, because that is your time and work and such. And I can't really afford to pay. >_< But yah, if you ever have any scraps lying around and you don't know what to do with them ... or if you would ever like to do an art exchange, I'd be open for that as well! :D

When I looked through your journal, I thought to myself; this person feels sort of familiar-I saw your caption, "I'm only allowed to eat dirt"- and then I immediately thought of "vomit-dirt" of tumblr, hahahha-
there was also something about the things you liked; nakamura asumiko, in particular- so it all just sort of clicked. and then I found your tumblr link, and I went, bingo! : D

I have visited your journal before. but then I wasn't sure if it would be alright to friend you then, although I liked your journal very much. I love how you present your pictures so tastefully, in nicely arranged previews, and I thought- here is a person who is good at sharing the beauty she sees with other people. And then, of course, there was your nakamura asumiko post ! I was so happy to find it.

Are you kidding me, you don't know anyone else who likes a single man?! I only watched the trailer and I love it immensely already. Watching the movie would be like visual-orgasm for me, no kidding. There was also something about the story that I liked- sad and wistful. I liked how it was so subtle, the way the story was told, which was a strange contrast with the strong, vivid visuals. I tried looking for clips on youtube- but there was not many to be found. I liked the one with the smoking, such sensual focus on the lips. I wish dearly to watch this ;A; did you buy the dvd or did you dl? I don't think malaysia would release this sort of movie, I can go look- but we are still rather homophobic. It is sad. At Kinokuniya, they removed all the yaoi and BL titles.

And thank you so very much for your kind words. I think it may be the best feeling when you admire some one and they say something like they noticed you but did not say anything, or even just gives you a compliment. So without (hopefully) sounding weird, thank you. :)

I downloaded A Single Man! I can upload it for you. I think I used a torrent but I do not know if I have it. Would you like a torrent file or a download from mediafire/megaupload? And yes, that smoking scene was incredible. If I remember correctly, the screen fills with saturated color when his lips are in focus. I haven't watched in a while, I confess, but I listen to the music every day. Do you have the ost? I can send that to you as well. Simply incredible. My favorite pieces are Becoming George, George's Waltz(2) and Clock Tick. Mescaline is also wonderful.

I am sorry that your bookstore is homophobic. >_< I have heard of several countries banning yaoi manga and it makes me realize how fortunate I am. And I do not mean that in a "ohmygosh, my smutty yaoi!" way, but more so just the notion of it all -- banning a genre because of what it encompasses.

AAAA, that would be GREAT. Can you use mediafire? Malaysia has banned megaupload and fileserve and piratebay. And yes, it is really, really how non-progressive we are. Yaoi is a beautiful genre. You have really bad, horrible yaoi, but when you do find the good ones, it's sublime. I really want to buy books by Asumiko, Sakae Kusama, Basso.... *cries*

Oh gosh, there are some really bad ones out there. XD I've read so much and yah, they can (like any genre, really) be utterly horrible. But I don't know, I think that when you can find a good yaoi, there is a very special and unique voice found only in that genre. Have you ever tried yesasia.com? They have free international shipping. I am not sure what your country's ban is on ordering though. >_< I ordered from there for a few of my Nakamura Asumiko manga because amazon.jp has the most expensive shipping prices. Goodness!

Oh yes, the horrible yaoi thing- Ive read some that are truly...truly horrendous. i remember one where its a story about how an uke gains weight, gets fat, then is locked up and tortured by the seme until he becomes thin, and then they proceed to have happy sex.

And Ive *attempted* to give OEL yaoi a shot as well; but its just...too...too horrible. The faces are pointed and disproportionate- the ukes are drawn literally.... GIRLY I AM UKE UKE UKE, with long flowing hair and heads too big for their bodies...the seme's are I AM TALL AND DARK AND I HAVE SMALLER EYES sort...the plot was cliche... asajdh.

By the way, I have yet to try yesasia, do you need a credit card for it? i have not gotten a credit card of my own yet ( still a student ;A; )

Ok, now that is an INSANE yaoi plotline. Like, really? That is just way too disturbing for me. I like disturbing, but that is just on a whole different level for me. O.o lol. "happy sex." GEESH. I am trying to think of some really bad ones, but I think I have (gratefully) erased them from memory. I do not dabble anymore really. I just stick with the ones I like and know. But gosh, there were some crazies. Oh! There is one that is about a sex school for boys. Truly. It is an actually job profession (in some future time) and boys go to a school to take sex lessons on how to be the perfect uke and their teachers are these big masculine semes who "educate" the students in the different forms. XD No plot line whatsoever. And shamelessly so.

Oh oh, ZARIA is an exception though. No plot, just semblances of it to set up situations for smutty, smutty porn. I tried Zaria. You are right -- pwp. lol. I surprisingly did not like it very much. I think because I've really read every kind of yaoi that I am not into the senseless porn anymore. I don't mind it with characters that I have fallen for, but the ones that I do not feel any connection to ... I don't know. :\

Ahahaha. Yaoi done by westerners? Oh dear, I do not think I could ever try that. I think manga by westerners is just ... not good. They can't grasp that style of art and I do not think they can weave story lines together in the same manner. I am sure that there are a few exceptions, as there always are in every genre, but in general, no. lol.

aha, I am like that too ! I honestly don't really know why I am partial to zaria. i like the way she draws porn, i suppose. i think when it comes to zaria, my mind goes- "if you are going to do pwp, you might as well have fun with it and make it as raunchy as possible."

I think that westerners have their own style of story telling, and there are some who can be really, REALLY good- such as emily caroll. http://emcarroll.blogspot.com/ ( I love her fairytale comics, so dark and twisted )

i think there's a dissonance when they try too hard to fit into anime/manga because there is a distinct loss of identity. yes, there are some who do a wonderful job at getting the technicalities of the genre right-but eventually, there has to be some ground of originality. I believe that even if the style looks animanga, but the story is solid and good, OEL will still carry through. for instance, i could totally see neil gaiman's sandman...or the graveyard book, being adapted to animanga. but even so, the style would have to be distinctly more mature.

i think my point is that, while it is alright to draw inspiration from different cultures, you must never lose yourself.
