People will killfile me for this, so I apologise in advance, but...
!
Thanks Australia. You have all made my day. And I just came back to the motel and turned on "Rage" to hear one of those damn left wing anthoms. "save the people" or "soylent green is whales" or somesuch.
I apologise to one of my co-worker's neighbourourhood for being single handedly the largest source of noise. I was also one of those gloating bastards that have been pissing me off for the past 11.5 years.
Howard's concessional speech was quite pleasing to the ear.
To those Americans still skeptical that voting can be done in a timely fashion without Diebold machines: voting closed in the eastern states 4 hours before Howard conceded. Or 2 hours after Western Australia closed, where the largest uncertainty existed. He may have lost his own seat as well -- that will take longer to verify because the postal votes are actually going to matter for his contest.
For the first time in my voting career, I have helped overthrow a fascist government. May we never be in this situation again.
And thanks to Garrett's short and jocular comment of a short and jocular nature, we have hope that the country is going to move in a different direction, as Howard has feared.
P.S. Maxine McKew for Prime Minister, and judging from their reactions last night in the tally room, Tony Jones and Kerry O'Brien for deputy and treasurer.
P.P.S Sorry* Howard.
* This is not an apology.
