Venting

I know I haven't posted much. Not that much has gone on lately though. I go to work, I come home, eat dinner, watch some TV and go to bed. Last Friday Jeph was over when I came home from work and we all went to Jupiter's for dinner and then to Venezia's for drinks afterwards. The next day was a BBQ at Houston & Carol's, which was fun, and Timber, Bucky and I took off a little early to go to the Berkeley marina to catch the fireworks from the American Pyrotechnic Association convention. That was going on at Pier 39, but we had an awesome view from Skate's cocktail area, and even got the waitress to dim the lights so we can see better. That was a nice and relaxing weekend.

This weekend Tony and Amanda came out and we went to the San Francisco Zoo. It was a fun day, despite the fact that it was so foggy that it felt like it was almost raining. We saw plenty of cute animals and sleeping animals, because I think that's all that animals do at the zoo. We saw a bald eagle up close when one of the animal handlers was holding one next to the penguin area to scare the seagulls away while they fed the penguins. It was a good day, except for one thing that really bugged us (and a few other people at the zoo).

So let me vent for awhile, even though I'm pretty tired and my writing isn't at its best... but the whole purpose of this post was to get to this. When you're at a zoo, and they have signs that say "Please do not feed the animals", what does that mean to you? To me, it means DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS. It means for those with children that do not know better and pay no attention to the sign to inform their children that it is wrong. It is pretty common knowledge that you're not supposed to feed the animals at the zoo.

But, you see, I could understand small children not knowing the difference. When it is a grandmother and her daughter and grandchildren, and the grandmother is feeding the gorillas, that just pisses me off. And she's feeding them string cheese! And then when someone says to them that they aren't supposed to do it, they get all huffy and leave, right before the gorilla pukes up what she just fed it and continues to get sick for the next 10 minutes. I just can't believe it. We walked up the scene as they were dropping something in the animal area and then rummaging for more food that they can give to the gorillas. If I had been next to her a few minutes earlier I would have taken that food and shoved it up her ass. The sad thing is, she left before the gorilla got sick, so she probably didn't think she was doing anything wrong or think anything of her actions at all. It just infuriates me that this is the kind of stuff that people do, unknowingly because of their stupidity, and are passing it down to future generations. And it infuriated me to see that poor gorilla, since it definitely didn't deserve that, as well as being around other adults and children who don't need to be watching a gorilla get sick at their trip to the zoo.

Argh. I can't stand being in public places around large amounts of ignorant people.

But aside from that, the day has been wonderful.
