Recsday the Third and a Half
So, I've missed the past two Recsdays. I blame that on exams, final projects, my brother's graduation ceremonies, and ultimax_exe, for getting me hooked on the BLEACH anime.
Therefore, this week you get a Very Special Wednesday!Recsday before I leave for Ottawa for a week (where I may or may not have computer access).

TSUBASA: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLe, Kurogane x Fai. At first, while I was reading this fic, I wasn't really drawn into it, but when I read the last few lines, it all just connected. I love how open and honest, how raw everything is, and then how quickly that reverses. Lumivalkea absolutely nailed Fai's characterization, even in a PWP fic. It's very refreshing, given the number of fics out there in which Fai is treated as a silly, simplistic character with little or no depth.

xxxHoLiC, Doumeki x Watanuki. "Normality is relative." Watanuki and Doumeki wander around looking for the fox-run oden cart, and have a conversation. The dialogue is fantastic, and Doumeki is absolutely SPOT ON. This is a great example of a fic that is so good I've almost incorporated it into my canon!interpretation of the series.

xxxHoLiC, Doumeki x Watanuki. "Doumeki buys cellphones. Everyone is a comic book wizard. Neo shoots herself in the foot. Fun for the whole family!" Batman references, staring cellphones, and the mental image of Doumeki in tights FOR THE WIN. Despite the incredible crackiness, this fic somehow manages to actually fit into the general tone of the series. (Or maybe it's because of the general crackiness that it fits the tone of the series ...)
Last to Know, Planning and Preparation, The Strangest Girl, and The Weirdest Words by tristefic
BLEACH, Ichigo x Orihime. Ultimax and I had an argument yesterday about the proliferation of slash in our his favourite fandoms. Apparently, he can't find any good het, because he is obviously a douchebag. BOHAHAHAHA! I've been in this fandom for less than a week, and I've already stumbled across enough het to club a score of baby seals to death with. Anyway, this is the before, during, and after of Orihime and Ichigo's first date. It's adorable and hilarious. Orihime is perfect, and Ichigo is deliciously clueless and awkward.
