I'm sitting here reading about the failure of the House to pass the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008. A bill that will allow the Government to spend up to $700 BILLION dollars on bailing out financial institutions. I remember another President Bush bailing out the Savings and Loan industry. Perhaps my glasses are rose colored, but I'm going on the assumption that our congress people actually might be looking out for us (or at least want to keep their jobs--I won't be voting for anybody who voted for that bail-out.) Just sayin'.

I think that they are too scared to make a decission and therefor chose to do nothing. Elections are right around the corner. Anyone who has any stock of any kind be it in a 401K or whatever better being praying that they bail these jackasses out, for the rest of us who don't have a pot to piss in letting the jerks fail seems to be the easy solution. I'm very torn in my thinking. While I would like to see the greedy knocked down a peg or two I also don't want the Chinese, the Saudis or anyone else coming in here being able to buy up more of American business and financial institutions because our gov't didn't/wouldn't bail them out. This is one of the worst damned if you do/damned if you don't situations I've seen in a long time.

I'm just relieved that the results were not in favor of rash action. We almost always wind up regretting rash action.
