This is the first time in a looooooong time that I'm on the computer at 3 a.m. b/c I've only just now gotten home. :D How much do I love Cass right now??? I didn't know until yesterday that I was even going to be able to go see King Konqueror play tonight, b/c there had originally been plans to take Hayley out for her birthday (it was Monday). But she had a dinner thing and some other ppl couldn't go, so we postponed til next week. So Cass said she'd come with. I was supposed to call her and let her know times, etc. after that ah, phone call I never made last night LOL. I got there today and rather sheepishly explained that by the time I'd gotten a number I didn't want to call, and she laughed. Then at lunch, she pulled out her cell phone and was like, "What's the number? I know you wrote it down." xD So *she* called for me! Well, us, lol, except I had to remind her of what she was supposed to be asking. Anyway, I was extremely grateful.
We got there a little early and we were the first women in the place, which was mildly weird. I joked that maybe girls aren't supposed to like rock, and she said that whoever made up that rule obviously hadn't met me. LOL. Also, it was more cover charge than ticket: six bucks. Woohoo! And apparently cheap shot night as well, since 1 mixed drink AND a Coke cost me $3.50. O_o Eventually the bar started filling up, and I have to say it was one of the most eclectic crowds I've ever seen. There was everything from punk to preppy schoolgirl looks. Hee, the guitarist from the opening band was quite politely hitting on Cass and she was all, dammit why didn't I come downtown more before I got a serious bf? LOL. We ended up leaving shortly after KK finished the second section of their set - they played for a good 2 hours - b/c it was getting late and b/c drunken stalker boy wouldn't leave us alone by then, lol. And not five minutes after we leave, her bf calls and I'm yelling right by her ear, "She's fine! I didn't break her!" Hee. God, we had so much fun.
The opening band was good; not great, largely b/c the singer's voice wasn't all that spectacular, but they played well and they had good material. The Sorrys, I think they were called. I meant to look at the sign on the way out to make sure but I forgot. And KK was fucking AWESOME. They played Remedy right near the beginning. Heh, and they played Eunuch later too, and the frontman was on his knees screaming for the end part, and said when the song was over that it was the most painful screaming he'd ever done, LOL. Man. I could go on and on but I'm just going to say that I will be keeping much closer tabs on their Web site b/c I plan to attend every fucking show these guys do here from now on.
Also, when the bar went to piped-in tunes, they were actually decent tunes. Like Rock the Casbah, and some other stuff - I forget now; that's what was playing when we exited. I *may* have found somewhere I can hang out that won't smother me with house music! That is an exciting thought indeed. :)
