Farewell thoughts on LOST

I'm guessing that the guys in the fishing boat are the infamous "Others," who seem to have a thing for children.  Actually, the whole situation with the way they snatched Walt, coupled with the previous abductions/attempts, puts me in mind of faerie mythology.  Where the fae would snatch healthy children and leave changelings in their place, because they were unable to have their own children.  Obviously there aren't any changelings here, lol, but I wonder if the child-snatching has a deeper purpose.  (I guess they could be really fussy cannibals! o_O )The flashbacks at the end were extremely poignant.  Everyone busting their asses to get on this doomed plane, and throughout it all, just going about their own business like the complete strangers that they are.  The contrast between that and the current situation where they depend on each other to survive is staggeringly huge.  I suspect that it was designed to show exactly that, and to also give us the feeling that maybe, despite everything, the latter option is the truer, better one. :-)And aside from everything, I really, REALLY want to hit Charlie. *furious*
