So, tried out the Pathfinder game with my new player. She caught on fairly quickly, which is good, and I think she had a blast. The first session got her up to Level 2 (due to having to infiltrate a goblin warren and defeat the goblins inside). My NPC followed along, and did so-so, which is good, since I wanted her to be the 'star' of the game.
At the end of the session, I decided that it would be better if she was able to do a little more (she spent most of the combat trying to hit people with her quarterstaff -- not going to do much good as a sorceress like that), so I allowed gestalt rules from 3.5. She chose to be a Sorceress/Summoner and my NPC is a Cleric/Gunslinger. (I'd given him a pistol early, knowing he'd take Gunslinger at 2nd level, so this wasn't a big change).
She had fun, beating on goblins, mocking them for missing, and going omg when she saw the orc in charge of the goblins. :D She dropped to -2 HP once, but the cleric got her to 2 HP, and she was able to finish off the orc with her newly-found +1 dagger she picked up off a goblin in a prior room. A quick throw and THOCK, orc went down.
She's creative, and she got into the roleplaying quickly. I'm amused with the whole thing, and I'd forgotten how fun 1 on 1 roleplaying can be. :) Looking forward to next Saturday, when she comes over.
Honestly, I don't think she'd have a problem roleplaying with other players -- she's hyper, and a little erratic, but that sounds like most roleplayers I know. ;)
