I have an idea for a project; a Twelfth Night outfit for myself. Because so help me, I'm going to Twelfth Night this year if it's not in Canada. I've never been to one, and I want to go. And therefore, I need spiffy garb ( Read more... )

I don't know if she documented it or not, but the Queen of Caid @ Pennsic, Sir Kolfinna, was observed wearing a nifty applique'd Viking apron dress. You might consider asking her about it... she has lots of web presence and is easy to find, even if she has stepped down by now.

She doesn't step down until November.

And if you find the Coronation pictures online (they're in the lj community SCA, from jjmackinnon), if you catch His Maj from the rearview, you'll see the applique on the lower skirt of his bright green tunic.

He sits on Thor's Hammer.

Well, there is this little catchphrase going around the mundane world... "It's Hammer Time!"

I have to say, we didn't have the courage to ask HRM about it. Too much giggling.

I'm even more surprised by the valknut he has appliqued in front, basically over his crotch. In Asatru circle, that's sometimes referred to as the "insert spear here" knot.

Our Slothboy is a funny guy. Very well-liked, popular with the populace, all sarcasm aside.

He and Kolfinna look like lovely people. I didn't get to meet them at Pennsic, but I oohed and ahhed over her garb from afar.

I thought highly enough about her that I came out of artistic retirement (I haven't turned in a scroll assignment in, like, eight years) and did the calligraphy for her knight's scroll. She was knighted at Estrella 2005. One of her online picture galleries (kottr.com) has a few pictures of the completed scroll in it; if you go back to January 2005 or thereabouts in my journal's archive, you can see the lettering I did.

It's all in runes.

Found it! (Feb 4, if you care.) Very very nice work! I wrote, and darkwolfie lettered our marriage contracct entirely in runes. I should read it over someday, lest he snuck something in there on me.

We have plans to paint runes on our canvas box that say something like, "I belong to Wolfie and Tasha. Do not touch their stuff. No, really, they will get quite cross. Wolfie made me, but it was Tasha's idea. Wolfie is Tasha's hero."
