Her second concern

Right then! Mayfield, I would like to make a small adjustment to my previous public announcement. While, before, I felt certain that I have never been here before, but it seems my own memory decieves me. A shame, true, but no matter! I am the United Kingdom of England, Scotland, Whales, and North Ireland! I know how to build up from the bottom, ( Read more... )

You're England? I could have sworn England was a young man. Perhaps such duplicates exist amongst the countries. But at any rate, I am very glad to know that my country is here. I still intend to make a clockwork for you for your sewing skills; have you given any thought to what type of clockwork you might want?

Ah, from what I understand, yes there are doubles of os, though I have never in my life met one of them until coming here to Mayfield. It seems Meriken and America are the same...

[[She sighs softly, starting to get worn down by how many other people recognise the technology here.]]

Clockworks. The base technology of my world.

The only clockwork I'm familiar with is the one inside Big Ben, dear, forgive me.

They're...quite a fair bit more advanced than that. Clockworks can do most anything. They have practical applications in all spheres of life. There are clockwork teapots and clockwork pets... Queen Victoria herself even uses medical clockworks...

...My Lady uses a clockwork...

Excuse me, I must ask, but from when exactly are you? I recognise that you don't have an accent, so I can only assume you're English--or Welsh--so you're obviously part of my Kingdom, but...

I'm from a parallel dimension to yours. 2010, London, but...Queen Victoria is immortal and England is the country with the greatest magicians in the world. Electricity is illegal in most of Europe, and... [[Sigh.]]

This place is as foreign to me as the Orient. Even besides it being America, there's... everything is different.

Well! It only makes sense that part of my empire would contain the greatest magicians in the world! To be quite honest, I rather fancy a bit of wizardry, even when I was but a small girl! I can't do it myself very well, but I'm quite excellent at making salt shakers disappear.

Well, you'll have a clockwork to take home with you, perhaps by giving it to you, it will extend the gift of ergaleomancy to your dimension. In mine, it was discovered in Switzerland, but it was we English who perfected it and brought it from an oddity to an art form. I do literally mean that it can do nearly anything, though, so name off an idea, something you'd like to have, and I'll see if it can be done.

...

And don't ask for a way out of here, I'm already trying.

Hmh... Well, I suppose that's reasonable.

You mentioned clockwork pets? May I hear more on that subject?

I've even regained my pet from home. Roachi comes with me everywhere, I'd be more than happy to show him to you. I could make any animal you like.

Wel... before I make any decisions, I think I would like to meet this pooch of yours. We can meet, measure you, and talk over designs for a dress as well. Is that agreeable?

Ah...dogs are popular, but mine is...something else. I'll show him to you, most definitely, though. That sounds like an excellent idea. I'll come to yours, shall I?

Yes, certainly! Bunker 769, I'm always home. I'll warn you, though, I've a set of drones I live with at present.

My Darling and I have a method for dealing with those...but it's not necessarily to everyone's tastes. I can come over.
