Once a month, once a month I can do...

Still out of the habit of checking Livejournal. This is the fault of Tumblr because... Tumblr. Yes.

Anyway, saw The Dark Knight Rises last week, like everyone else. It was an unquestionably flawed movie, but... I don't even know, man. I saw the plot holes as they went sailing past but -- for me, at least -- they were incidental and unimportant. The rush was enough. I was happy.

(Happy enough to wish there was a fandom. Why do DC movies never seem to get any fannish traction?)

Okay, I'll admit, it probably helped some that I spent large chunks of the movie going, "Jim Gordon oh I want one ;___;" and making silent, pathetic grabby-hands at the screen. Related: Oh. Oh. That's why you people like Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Yes, I'll take that one, too.

Also, Catwoman.

And Alfred, but only for hugs, because, god, that man needs one.

I'm seeing the movie again this evening -- with my parents, this time, so that will be interesting. They loathed The Avengers (how am I related to these people?), so I'll be interested to know what they think. Got to admit, I'm not optimistic.

In other news relevant only to me, Hot Toys is releasing a 1:6 scale collectible figure of Lt. James Gordon in his S.W.A.T. uniform from The Dark Knight. It's a hefty price tag, especially given that shipping isn't included, but it's an exclusive and, I mean, my god -- look at that thing. You have to click through the gallery. The level of detail is ridiculous.

I want one. No, scratch that, I've ordered one.

And if I can ever find a second head, I'm buying an extra body and dedicating the rest of my days to finding him the perfect trenchcoat and related rumpled policeman accessories. (How much do I love that 1:6 figures can have their heads and clothes swapped around? They're like Barbies for adults.) It will be glorious.

I think I could take a liking to customizing action figures. (Just think of the possibilities!) Because I needed another hobby, am I right?

the goddamn batman, not quite a movie review
