it addresses the threat of genocide that is currently engulfing kenya following what some are calling rigged presidential elections. i have some friends who are doing field work in kenya and their safety is of course on everyone's mind. but just as important are the lives of the kenyan people. in the rift valley, tribal justice has become the law of the land. very similar to rwanda, machete-wielding clans are slaughtering people for "mixing tribal blood." even i get excited in the light of the new hampshire elections but its important to not lose sight of what else is going on. you can read more about the unrest here: http://topics.cnn.com/topics/kenya
