2008 Presidential Candidate Matching Quiz

because he echoes a lot of the writings and speeches of dr king and bobby kennedy that ive been reading
and more importantly he makes me believe in america again

bobby kennedy wrote that to be an american is to know what it is like to be an outcast and a stranger and to have come to the land of the exile and so to turn our backs on the strangers among us, the poor among us, is to deny america itself. i believe in that. i believe we live in a country sharply divided between the have and the have nots, and the poor in this country are ignored. i remember seeing a story on a family in the appalachians who were living well below the poverty line and it was heartbreaking to see the children not have proper supplies for school, and in fact they would miss a large chunk of school because they couldnt get their rv fixed so they could make it down to the bus stop. education is so important and these children are the future of america, we should be bending over backwards to help them get the education they deserve. if you have the mind for harvard, then money shouldnt be an issue. how many native americans leave their reservations and get the opportunity to go to medical school? we need to unite as americans and better ourselves and build up a future our children can be proud of. understandably there will be social differences, but just because i believe in a womans right to chose doesnt mean that i can stand strong with someone who is pro-life and be america united. i believe that america was on its way to healing during the late 1960s and the message of hope, unity and love that dr king and rfk spoke about was senselessly snuffed out by the assassins gun. but we as americans can be stronger than those cowardly acts. we can show the world that we will no longer be red states and blue states, black and white, poor and rich.

obama said two things in his iowa victory speech which struck a chord with me
first, 9/11 shouldnt be used to scare up votes but should unite america and the world against the threat of nuclear terrorism in the 21st century.
secondly, we need to hope. hope is what allowed our forefathers to rebel against an empire and start a new country. hope allowed our grandfathers to bring freedom to a europe torn apart by war and facism. hope gave college students the courage to sit at lunch counters, to march from birmingham to selma. without hope, our actions will be lacking that spark which can push them towards success. so i hold a lot of hope for the future of our country and i believe that change is going to do us good. i believe not only in obama's message but i also trust his judgment. i trust that he will surround himself with the right cabinet and will lead our country towards economic prosperity and will protect us against the threats we face.
