How many scarves *does* a person need, anyway?

While in St. John, NB a few weeks ago, nightfalltwen and I wandered into her local yarn shop. Since it was after Christmas, the store was having a 30% off sale, which means only one thing - I spent some serious Canadian Monopoly money! One of the things I picked up that morning was some pretty hand-dyed cotton yarn from Italy, which I thought would be perfect ( Read more... )

Omg it's so pretty!!!

Now when you say "pooling" does that have something to do with the way the colour fades in and out?

ETA: I needed an icon to reflect our lovely monopoly money! Hee!

See what I mean by how it mimics the look of crochet work in the cotton yarn? My grandmother would be so proud.

Yep! That's exactly what it means. Sometimes you get weird variations from skein to skein (something I encountered in spades when I made my afghan).

Ha! That icon is awesome. ;)

It really is beautiful. I looked at it in comparison to the one in the original picture and I like the way yours looks a whole lot more than the original pattern example. So much lacier and delicate looking.

It must be so nice to get back to knitting with good yarn instead of the stuff you were using for the special olympic scarves >.>

I actually had to look up the whole date thing. We've had coloured money as long as there's been a Bank of Canada. I was surprised!

(Our singles were green just like yours though, before we had Loonies)

Oh man, this yarn is a dream to work with compared to the nasty acrylic. That other stuff was so course and scratchy it actually took the first layer of skin off my thumbs.

I'm really sold on this brand of cotton yarn. I'm going to have to make something else with it one of these days.

Have we ever figured out the reasoning behind the colored bills? Besides being kind to drunk guys at hockey games...
