I've seen a few clips with her, and she also appeared to be a fantastic Elphaba. It's understandable (but at the same time, disappointing) to have the soundtrack different from the performance because of the different people used. But one of the reasons I loved the musical was because of how well the actors acted and sang. As presumptuous as it sounds, I wonder if the soundtrack would be able to live to what I saw last night. ^^; The Fiyero I saw last night was just as amazing as the two witches; did I mention that the ending was such a good twist? I could hear a soft hush of happiness for them, in the crowd. A friend of mine was disappointed with the book as well; so dissatisfied in fact, she couldn't remember what happened in it, when another friend and I asked her about the differences. You're probably not missing much.

How come you decided to purchase the soundtrack first? I woudn't know if I'd like the music, or what the storyline is, if I didn't watch the musical first. I was really surprised when the Wizard Head spoke. It was way too loud, although I suspect that was the effect they really wanted. The way it all fit together with The Wizard of Oz story was brilliant! I had no idea that the people surrounding Elphaba were to become the three characters Dorothy would meet later on.

Actually, I wasn't very familiar with the original story to begin with. I knew the general part of it, but not the details. I looked up Wikipedia a half hour before I left the house. XD

You never watched the Wizard of Oz either? My friends were so surprised when I admitted I was the only one of the three. But you grew up in Malaysia right? I grew up in Canada, which I guess makes it even more of a poor excuse that I wasn't familiar with the Wizard of Oz. XD;
