The slash is inescapable!

At least, it is when I'm writing. ;p

I'm taking a creative writing class this semester, and one of our assignments was to write a dramatic scene from a play or a movie.  Just for the sake of amusing myself, I challenged myself to do a scene with two straight male characters, make them act as "guy-like" as possible, not have them do anything overtly slashy (like touching or talking about their feelings), and yet still see if I could work some gay subtext into it.

I daresay I succeeded, lol.  We go over our pieces in class workshop style, where the whole class discusses each person's piece for fifteen minutes or so.  About a minute into discussing my piece, one girl asked the following question:

Nellie: So ... does Eliot have a crush on Josh?  Because I read the line "He rested his forehead against the locker, eyes closed," and I just thought "gay."
Me: *starts giggling hysterically*

This almost led the workshop into a downward spiral of finding every piece of subtext possible in my scene, real or imagined, a discussion that even the guys in the class jumped into, lol.  Luckily (or maybe unluckily), we regained our work-oriented equilibrium, and did not end up in a
scans_daily-esque debate over how gay my characters really are for each other.  My professor did make this her closing comment, though:

Prof: I'm sorry, I can't stop seeing homoeroticism in this scene anymore.

Mwahahahaha.  I completely denied the fact that it was intentional, but it tickled me so much that I spent the rest of class trying not to burst out laughing.  And as an added bonus, I got this when I met with my prof. later for office hours ...

Prof: Ever since Nellie brought that up, I've been seeing homoeroticism in everyone's pieces now!  It's so distracting ...

Woo!  In conclusion, my greatest accomplishment all semester.  I can now fail the rest of my classes in peace ...

\o/

ETA: Okay, this is really amusing me far too much.  I'm going back over the comments classmates wrote about my scene, and every so often, I come across a line of dialogue that's been circled along with a "Suppressed homoeroticism?  Explore!" exclamation next to it.  LOL.  And seriously, my characters don't do anything overtly gay at all.  I <3 subtext.  And I <3 people's <3-ing of subtext.  *grin*
