So, internets, since last we talked, I have done... various things that I didn't feel like posting about at the time. But I'm now all signed up for library privileges (although still working on internet access in said library) and reunited with all the books I sent home from France, and working on scaling up the amount of work I'm doing every day. I have yet to make my final decisions about textbooks to assign to my students, much to the bookstore's chagrin, but on the bright side, my article revisions, although still in very preliminary form, are taking shape nicely, and in the process of planning them, I think I talked myself back into my current thinking about my dissertation. Onward! I'm currently sitting at the kitchen counter of the house of Maybe basking in the internet, before I get a ride to Kelowna with my mom and spend the rest of the day in the library until my dad comes to pick me up on his way home from work.
On that note, I should probably go and get on with the threefold tasks of having my shower, making my lunch (although the library also houses a Tim Hortons, so my lunchmaking resolve is weak), and emailing advisor R.
But I must say that in the realm of spending quality time with the parental units, my dad and I went up to Salmon Arm on Saturday and had a delicious lunch of pie and more pie (okay, to be fair, he had a salad and pie, I had a pot pie and pie) at the Shuswap Pie Company. Then, on Sunday the three of us went for delicious lunch at the Cracked Pot Coffee Emporium downtown. Yesterday, my mom and I went down to Kelowna with my dad, and I spent the morning in the library and then my mom and I had lunch and went shopping for the afternoon, and then we all went out for supper. I didn't have any luck shopping for the things I was actually looking for, but I got a really pleasing coral orange sixties-inspired sleeveless dress! As I observed, it is not my fault that I have apparently been made to wear the sixties-inspired dresses that keep finding their way into my possession.
