UGGG. I've spent the evening working on my paper proposal for Kalamazoo next year. I'm about two-thirds done, for certain values of "done," but to hell with it for the rest of the night. I'm not going to finish it, and I have to actually get sleep tonight if I'm going to be able to do my share of the driving tomorrow. Cormac and I are going to Vancouver Island for an extended weekend starting tomorrow, and I said I'd help drive. I had an epic fit of insomnia last night, probably due to an ill-advised mid-afternoon cup of coffee yesterday, so I have to get a good sleep tonight. I also have to be up early, since we're planning to leave around eight in order to have time to eat breakfast at the Jammery in Lake Country and still make it in time for our ferry reservation. We're on the 4:00 sailing of the Queen of New Westminster from Tsawwassen south of Vancouver to Swartz Bay outside Victoria, and I'm excited!

Fun fact: I visited every provincial capital in Canada, plus Ottawa, between 1998 and 2000, except Victoria, my own provincial capital, where I haven't been since 1989 when I was five. Or technically, I was on a flight to Vancouver once in 2003 that got diverted for a few hours to Victoria, but I didn't leave the airport, so I'm not counting that.

Anyway, I was going to update about my epically productive day, and also the excellent new pair of pants I got yesterday, which are so awesome that I think they'll give me the strength to face France all on their own, but I have more productivity that needs accomplishing before I go to bed. Since we've established that I need sleep, I'd better to and deal with it.

I'm sure I'll find internet on the Island, in any case.
