So, Haskins is over, and while it didn't reach the sublime heights of awesomeness of last year, it did leave me feeling like I didn't know what to do with my post-France life when it ended this afternoon. I got as far as finding peanut butter in Star Market after I left campus with fellow grad student SS, and started to feel very feeble and aimless. The fact that the produce section of my Star Market has been completely and illogically rearranged since I left didn't help.
I managed to make it home with a respectable complement of groceries, but once I got home, I decided it was time for tea and slippers and not doing anything for a couple of hours, and that made me feel better. I haven't done much since. I got stuff to make a butternut-squash risotto, but I was too tired for that this afternoon, so I heated up a can of (yay, vegan!) soup for supper, and had another cup of tea. I have not yet steeled myself to open my new loaf of American bread, but I had a large and delicious cookie left over from lunch at Haskins today. I've also talked to roommates J and J, and winterized my bed. I'm looking forward to my down and flannelette tonight, especially since we're in the grips of a Nor'easter and it's sleeting outside.
As for my report on my trip to Brittany and thoughts on working in the archives, later. I've uploaded my pictures to facebook, the sad few of them that turned out well, and I'll write things up in the next couple of days. I'm not planning to make too many demands on myself tomorrow - a little sleeping, a little emailing, a little unpacking, and maybe some cooking. If I'm really ambitious, I might start thinking about what I'm going to do with the rest of the fall. But my first priority is going to be catching up with myself, I think.
