Ooh, yay for my grandparents' new computer and much upgraded internet connection! I live! I leave for Boston at an ungodly early hour tomorrow morning, or at least, I have to be at the airport ungodly early to check in and get myself thumbprint-scanned and digitally photographed and I-20-ed at US Immigration. Why US Immigration is in Vancouver, I'm not sure, but there it is, and there I shall be processed.

Tonight is for repacking. I've decided, in light of the week it's going to be before I can move into my apartment, that I'm only taking one suitcase. That requires lightening the load considerably. I hate that I have all this crap!

It is a dreadfully first-world woe, but one from which I *sigh* perpetually suffer.

I can't say my shopping trip yesterday really helped reduce my overconsumption at all. I now have two new pairs of blue jeans and some new unnecessarily silly socks, and oh yes, a lovely and frightfully expensive safari jacket. Or so I think they're called. I've been wanting one since I discovered my dad's Belgian army surplus jacket that he got at a flea market in Amsterdam in 1969, and then discovered that it didn't fit me. I have no willpower in the face of brass buttons and army green, apparently. Actually, I think I could have resisted if it hadn't been for the little tab-things that button up on the shoulders, but it has them, and now I have it.

I love it. I love it more than words can say. I think I'm going to throw over wearing my Roscommon jersey on the plane tomorrow in its favour. (I'm also wearing it in my new facebook picture, although you can't see it very well.)

Anyway, other than that, we went out for supper at an Indian restaurant in Steveston yesterday and walked out to Steveston along the dike today. Haha, it's the first time I've been to Steveston since I first saw the Stargate episode "Nightwalkers," and Marek and Morgayne and I had a really good time pinpointing all the locations. And taking pictures, of course. I'm trying to use up a film (at this point I'd have to say that I've failed) and la famille has a new digital camera, so we took lots of pictures. And we're geeks like that. Serious geeks.

Now to search out my big suitcase and shuffle stuff around to eliminate my backpack. Next stop... okay, Chicago, but after that, Boston!
