A-Kon pictures!
To start off...
My all-important pile of swag! All that's missing is the Eureka Seven movie. Being weird and trippy and having nothing to do with the series, thereby not really warranting repeat watches, I kind of donated it to Half-Price Books before I took this picture. Oh well.
And yes, that is the Avatar: The Last Airbender artbook there. I managed to snag the last copy the booth had.
And no happier purchase was made that day!

This year I went as Saber from Fate/Stay Night, on Friday and Sunday. (Saturday I just wore my Batgirl shirt and comfy jeans.) The costume actually turned out really nice. A little tighter and less mobile in places than I would've liked (mostly in the sleeves), and it was a bit of a hassle to get into, but it looked pretty good, all things considered. I even got a few picture requests!
My boyfriend went as the protagonist of Fate/Stay Night and Saber's Love Interest, Emiya Shirou. (I made his costume too!) Though, since he looked pretty normal in comparison to me and everyone else, he didn't get recognized as often. He was a little miffed at that.

A few snapshots I took at the DART station, while we were waiting for our train. I didn't have time that morning to do my hair so I just left it down that day.
This is Monique, AKA the friend that ships us.
And this is my friend Rachael, as Urd from Ah! My Goddess, whom we joined up with several times over the weekend.
Later on in the day one of our party members bought himself a latex foam sword, which I borrowed to pose with.
Because I'm kind of a geek like that.
And Sunday I actually managed to do my hair up in some semblance of Saber's hairstyle. Go me.

Very first thing we got to do once there was stand in line to pick up our badges. And it was a LOOOOOONG line. Took us about an hour to get to the front and we were there early.
Really liked this ice-skating rink by the food court.
This whole atrium was really pretty actually.

Lol, this was one of the booth runners' kids actually. I saw him playing under the table and was all like, "AWW!" so I had to get a picture.
Of course I had to snap a picture of this mermaid too. : )
And this nifty jade filigree thing.
Something I was pleasantly surprised by was the presence of Peter S. Beagle, author of my sister's favorite book The Last Unicorn. According to Rachael he later spoke at the con's opening ceremony with two pieces of good news:
1. He won his lawsuit and is finally getting back-pay for the DVD of the animated Last Unicorn from a couple distributors who hadn't been paying him.
2. THE LIVE ACTION VERSION OF THE LAST UNICORN GOT A GREEN LIGHT AND IS FINALLY OUT OF DEVELOPMENT HELL HUZZAH!
Still wish we could've seen Ally's face when we texted her to let her know.

And now on to COSTUMES!

Found an Edward Elric waiting in line.
Darth Vader, of course.
And this was nifty-a Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon.
Feel a little sorry for the poor person who had to wear that all day.
Other Fate/Stay Night characters we found...

And a Berserker. And yes, the guy was really that buff. Nerd body-builders, who'd a thunk?
There were a couple Avatar groups there too. I really wish you could see this Mai's pretty silver filigree hairbun ornaments better.
Found this bunch in the dealer's room.
A Suki passed by conveniently and they grabbed her too.
And there was a Korra!
And quite a bunch of Sailor Senshi. I probably tried to take pictures of every single one there. (Missed a few cute Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask pairs but other than that...)
This girl was actually my favorite of the bunch though. I thought she was the prettiest. (Also, she's Sailor Jupiter and I will be forever biased in her favor.)
This was a really creative pair. The one on the left is a Tardis and the one on the right is a Dalek, both from Dr. Who.
And whadda ya know? There were a few Dr. Who-s there too! Mostly Nu!Who but I managed to find this vintage Doctor downstairs.

Belldandy from Ah! My Goddess.
Nel from Bleach.
Chihiro from Spirited Away. (D'aww she's so cute!)
And I have no idea who these guys were from or if they were from anything but I loved their intricately detailed costumes to pieces so I snagged a picture anyway.

Day 17:
Mermaid Melody
Kaito/Luchia-
Good grief I thought they'd never get together. So many episodes of near-miss confessions and dragging things out and Kaito being an oblivious dunderhead. Sometimes I just wanted to scream, "Oh for Pete's sake, give up on him! He's never going to figure it out!" 'course then her goal turned to winning him over as Luchia and not his mysterious mermaid princess crush and she met with remarkably more success on that angle, and actually got the guy to start feeling something for her in return.
Once Kaito started showing real care and concern for Luchia, and being worried about her, and protective over her, and showed reciprocal signs of liking her, I actually started to think they might work out.
Before the end of the season, they did. And it was adorable and glorious.
...Until they hit the reset button in Season Two and gave Kaito plot convenient amnesia so that he forgot about Luchia and his relationship with her and they had to start all over again.
*groan*
