In a nutshell: I cried
I really enjoyed the story and how seamless it felt. Jyn was just perfect. The reluctant rebel and I felt her journey from disinterest to passion was heartfelt and real.
I figured all the characters I met were doomed. They were. I still cried. I felt really moved by the sacrifice of life for freedom, even the simple act of turning the master switch. Small, incredible sacrifices paving the way towards a greater freedom. I really enjoyed it.
I think after a bleak year of people making choices based on fear and distrust, it was moving watching a story of ordinary people willing to lay down their lives in a fight against evil. Our world feels so complex and complicated at times. Too much. Yet, it is in the smallest of our actions that we can make a difference. No matter how futile and overwhelming it all feels.
I cried.
