Not so much a review as a 'really?'

I tried two of James Patterson's books this holiday: Maximum Ride - the Angel Experiment, and Witch Wizard.

I am now certain of it - fanfic has ruined me for badly written fiction. Egad, I have become a literary snob via amateur fanfiction - who would have thought. To be fair, I have a personal dislike for first person POV and it really has to be good for me to stick with it. Alas, for both books, I couldn't bring myself to read any further than I did. The chapters were very short... way too short - sometimes two pages, and then the next chapter continued exactly were the last had ended. I may be missing something with these books, perhaps they are meant to be graphic novels as I found a graphic novel version in a book store and it made more sense as a comic, but holey guacamole, I despair at the state of writing. No, no, it can't be as Patterson was the guy who wrote 'Along came a Spider' and 'Kiss the Girls' - perhaps the 'co author' was the actual author and it was supposed to be a graphic novel and the publisher just used the Patterson name to sell the books.
