I saw Turn Left!
*flails some more*
Ten things: (started out as two, but I kept going back to add more)
-marketplace where the Doctor appears to be buying a sea urchin: straight from fanfic! Win!
- the title of this episode always makes me thing of the bit in Blink where the DVD Doctor says "Look to your left" and Larry thinks that bit is a political statement. It works here! When Donna turns right, the world goes to hell in a handbasket. Right is the way of explosions, war-hardship conditions whether or not there's war, and fascist tendencies. Left is the way to go. Oh, RTD. I like you. "Turn Left" gave a sense of things falling apart that seemed to fit very well with the current mood of the world without the mallet of morality approach that DW is prone to when doing "issue" episodes.
-annoying med student dude survived the Judoon on the moon while Martha AND Sarah Jane & co. die? There is no justice.
-Donna gets great clothes even in disastrous apocalyptic parallel worlds. This is fitting, because she is made of awesome.
-Is it just me, or was Rose talking kind of oddly? Am I just that unused to her speech, or has something changed? I know the lack of massive eyeliner and visible roots was somewhat disorienting. Also, I got the impression that Rose had a lot of subjective time passing for her between visits to Donna, but she was always wearing the same outfit. Does she feel the need to emulate the Doctor even in an aversion to changing clothes?
-the scene where the stars wink out REALLY spooked me.
-I like Donna's mom even less than I liked Francine Jones. Jackie Tyler, I miss you!
-"This is to combat dehydration." That was worth quite a LOL.
-It certainly surprised me to have the episode where Rose returns features almost no Doctor and no Doctor/Rose interactions. While the shipper in me is frustrated, it was a clever twist.
-BAD WOLF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *gibbers some more*
I might write more later, but I need to catch some sleep now. Tomorrow involves both a trip to Ren Faire AND a big presentation at work.
