Wow, I can be grumpy in the mornings.

Not that I didn't mean what I said earlier, but I definitely could've been more civil about it! I apologize to anyone who was offended about that. I'll try to remember not to post before noonish (on the rare times I post)

Been watching the snow fall, and just finished up work for the day. Hoping to clean up the kitchen to the point of finding a counter top again, at least some of it. Yes, it's that bad.

Lot of knitting going on, I'm about to finish up my first knitted doily tonight, after breaking through a mental block I had about the edging. Didn't help that the pattern was in Finnish! Thanks goes to some Finnish ladies online who were nice enough to help translate it for me. This is the state it was in about a month ago:

I've also finished this shirt for myself. When I do a second one (sometime this year), I will knit fewer stitches under the arms, and do garter rib throughout the bottom, to improve the fit. But I'm quite pleased with it, being my first shirt I've knit.

I've also knit a scarflet for myself, and as my protest against winter, I've bought bright! yellow skein and am knitting socks for myself. I have the leg of the first sock nearly done, which isn't bad for a week. I'm also knitting a shawl/doily (depends what size it ends up at), but it's on hiatus for a bit until I have time and concentration to untangle the skein from when it fell on the floor last week. This is what I get for not wrapping it into a ball.

I've just made 2 sterling bracelets in trade for 10 lbs of 24g stainless steel wire :D That should last me a few years.

The yarn is also by me, a 3-ply from my first try at silk hankies. The Loop downtown has started carrying a lot more spinning supplies, which is awesome.

Oh, I also started a lace tablecloth, and restarted kilt hose for my friend in Ohio... I think this is the 5th restart. And a cowl from my own handspun.

I just got the week of Feb 16-20 off on vacation... realized I had 2 weeks left to use before the end of March. We're trying to find a way to visit his parents on PEI on his 2 days off midweek. A friend offered a ride only if we can get to Amherst, but that's a bit difficult without transport. Rental is out, as we can't pick up during business hours due to his work hours the day before, and as we really would prefer to have at least a day and a half over there to be worth it. He's going to see if his parents can help out.

That's all my brain (what's there) can think of for now...

knitting, life
