Okay so a little back story on me....Fun right? Well i am Vinnie *waves* and i recently became the very proud owner of a Rose Hair. Unsure of it's sex at this time but secretly hoping for a girl...I was told most sold in pet stores are females because males are usually not found often...Not sure how true this is but that's what i hear. my mum first got me a rose hair years and years ago as a way to get me over my fear of spiders. i loved my rose hair but am still freaked out by regular spiders LOL!

i know it seems like the common house spiders are more of a threat lol....I was freaking out when i saw one in our kitchen my friend was like uhm you have a huge hairy one in a tank in the other room i respond with that's harry it's okay lol....

i do love the rose hair a lot tho i am really glad i got one.

hahaha I'm the same way. There was a spider in the car the other day and my friend was freaking out asking me why I couldn't get it out since I used to have a tarantula. It is totally different :P

I'm the same w/ wild spiders. It's like 'Yeah I do have a 5" spider in my room, but this one is a stranger! STRANGER DANGER SPIDER!' It's irrational really. X3

Female Ts also live a lot longer past maturity than males, so that's enough reason for them to be preferentially sold at pet stores. :)

When holding them, though, be sure they're low to the ground and over a soft surface -- a fall can kill them!

Sadly a lot of pet stores are pretty unscrupulous and will pass of a spider that they know to be male as "unsexed" or "sex not guaranteed" :-/

I used to be terrified of spiders/tarantulas until I rescued my first Rose Hair (from the evil neglectful sister in law). Now we have Asha (the Rosie) and Rebo (our baby Avicularia Metallica).
