This is how bored I am today…..
There is an old SysInternals program called BGInfo. SysInternals was recently acquired by Microsoft, so you can find it there. What it does is takes machine info and place it in text on the desktop.
I have mine set up to show the computer name, the current IP address, full size and free space on each hard drive. And then I set it to take whatever background was already on the desktop, copy it, and then write the info in a new image and make it the desktop.
Well today I wrote a little vbscript that will take a folder full of images and randomly assign them to be the new desktop. Then run the BGInfo program and create a new info screen.
To top it off, I renamed all of the images in the directory to be either “stretch-*”, “tile-*”, or “center-”. Now the VBScript looks at the beginning of the filename and sets the view appropriately.
Then, I got bored and set up a scheduled task to run the VBScript every 15 minutes.
The good news is… about a third of the photos in the directory are porn. So every 15 minutes, its like a game of chance. I can either get a cool background of a comic book character, a photo I stole from some random comic book website, or a hot redhead butt nekkid on all fours……
Plus, it still shows my little info on my desktop as well.
Man… I wish I had something to do today. That was work related. But my week was rescheduled for me. So today I have nothing to do but answer peoples stupid questions. And they have plenty of them.
