My field notes so far
This is to post some of my field notes...
First thing to note is that I logged on Monday because I had a class that was canceled and I realized that if I took field notes it might make it easier for me to account for playing. I was right about that! So I have been able to get im much more play time as an added benefit I'm able to figure out what part of the logs interest me
Provided I can find the logs
This is sort of the gist of the comment that got me started on my project : Perhaps you don't need it because Virtue seems open minded enough, or at least most of the X channel or half of its population would be in the pride category
The person who made the comment pointed out that I was not facing any kind of homophobia and that on the contrary I was accepted. Homophobia is the most cited reason that LGBT groups like the Name channel exist and yet he was pointing out that if that was the sole reason for these groups that I might not need to be part of one. I think it's clear that homophobia is not the only reason that LGBT groups exist. If I started out thinking of the Name channel like an imagined community now I think that it shares characteristics with both imagined communities and communities of practice.
I think I have more work to do before I really come to the answer I am looking for but it is beginning to form in my mind...
