Down to the preliminary research

So I am beginning my research of my honors thesis firs place to check out is gaymer.org ( www.gaymer.org/ ) a site with information about gay gaming. This will help me address the question of whether gay groups are rare occurances on some MMOs or if most MMOs will have them.Another thing I have to find is relevant anthropological literature on the topic and this is something I may want to talk to a librarian about. It's not that I have not found any relevant literature but that the majority of what I find is not anthropology but psychology, sociology, educational psychology, and communications or media studies. Turkle is psychology/sociology, Boudreau is sociology, Steinkuehler is Educational Psychology and the list goes on... it's a little discouraging. I'm not saying that their work is rubbish because they are not anthropologists but that I do need to consider what is being said in my discipline before I look outside of it for other sources and this is becoming a challenge for me. The only anthropologist I know of that is doing the kind of research that could interest me is Alex Golub and his study of World of Warcraft. I am having trouble finding something written by him and I will have to read his work to know if it could be pertinent to my research. Oh well no rest for the wicked. =P

So far gaymer.org has proven to be the easier task simply but that does not mean I am not trying.

Another worm in my apple, one of my profs announced that everybody should know that the schedule she put in the course pack was no longer applicable so the dates for exams were moved, this is really wonderful because I applied to take those tests with the Office for Students with Disabilities on those now invalid days =(

Also my internet connection is wigging out on me =( =(

On the plus side I realized there is somebody out there interested in some of the things that interest me (LGBT gaming) unfortunately she's in communications, but that is not the end of the world.. Her name is Adrienne Shaw (I'm putting that here so I don;t forget it)
