My honors thesis topic

Today in my honors thesis seminar we talked a lot about choosing honors topics and we started to delve into the subjects we might tackle. Even though most of what is written about how to find a topic is somewhat redundant sounding it is good advice and reareading it was probably a good thing. After we discussed the articles about topic selection that were our subjects we were asked to talk about what we might consider doing for our projects and I heard some promising sounding thesis topic subjects. The subject that I think I will tackle is LGBT communities in MMORPGs, more specifically I was hoping to take a closer look at a community that I am a part of. When we discussed my subject the first question I was asked was if LGBT groups formed in all MMOs or if those kinds of groupings were more characteristics of particular games. While I might intuitively assume that LGBT groups might be found on any game because LGBT players probably exist on every game I think it might be worth looking into if only to verify my assumption. This is not to say that I will be comparing LGBT groups in different games or even making an in depth study of all LGBT groups in a single game. My interest is in studying how and why these groups form as well as how members understand their communities.
