Hello LJ world, I apologise for not being here but I'm a lazy mare and I've been a little busy this winter studying a course that will, ultimately, allow me to lecture at Further Education colleges as part of my 5 year master plan (I usually try and have some sort of plan, being the chaos merchant that I am, but the last 5 years have been a little more chaotic than even I like).

So this week I went to a mine site, I work for a mining company and they decided that people in the corporate head office need to see at least one mine site to have an understanding of how things work. It was so much better than I had anticipated (even allowing for getting up at 4.30am) and I'll post pictures once I've loaded them onto the computer. I saw the whole process from how the Geologists work out where to dig, through to seeing the final concentrate, which we sell to smelting companies.

Last night tigerbeard, frivol and frivol's sister and I went to see "Parky" the one man show by Michael Parkinson. He's an incredible person and has amazing anecdotes about his guests. He showed many gems from over the years and the one clip I would like to find, but so far have been unable, is a completely extemporised piece with Peter Ustinov singing an opera with Dudley Moore on the piano. If Parky is touring near you and you are a fan, I would grab tickets while you can..

On the way home from the theatre, Melbourne had one of the most spectacular lightning storms I've seen in a very long time. It also provided us with a lot of rain in a very short period of time. The rain started at 11.20pm, our babysitter left at 11.30pm, by 11.50 we had water dripping through our bedroom ceiling. Fortunately, it stopped raining at 12.30 and so it stopped dripping by about 1 am. This morning, we called the insurance company, with thoughts of missing/broken tiles.

The Good News: No missing or broken tiles
The Bad News: The angle of the roof above our porch is very shallow and should it rain that heavily again, we'll flood again.

We have a roofing friend of a friend coming to look at the roof tomorrow to see if there's a short term cheap option. Wish us luck.
