What it feels like for a girl.

I had to write a paper to go along with my source project for Visual Language. I just really liked the whole idea that i came up with and am actually really proud of it. so i figured i'd let everyone read it and see what you think.

For my source project I chose to do my presentation on the color pink and what it means to me. Pink is so much more then just a color to me, it represents the idea of being a girl or womanhood. In today’s world women are just as equal as men and have every right to do anything they want to. However, it is my belief that if a woman wants to be a girlie girl or a fifties housewife, she should be able to without being seen as any less of a person.
From birth girls are typically put in the color pink to identify that they are a girls. When you are a little girl you get dressed in pretty pink dresses and wear curl in your hair. Girls play with Barbie and are taught that they can be whatever they want to be, while still being a fabulous woman at the same time. Somewhere between teenagers and young adults “Barbie” becomes a joke, society tries to teach us that we should not be such a pink, girlie, girl but rather we must be strong independent women. What if we still want to be Barbie, may be that’s all a girl has every wanted? What’s so wrong with that? I am one of those girls that wears pink almost every day, I hope to be anything that I want to be, and at the same time still be a beautiful, fabulous woman.
