The Paisley Beer Festival opened last night. A wee group of us had a good time sampling various ales, and in reasonable comfort since (as it was the first night) it was pretty quiet. First thing I did was head for the foreign beers bar to get some Klein Duimpje Honing Porter, a delicious beer which I think I missed out on last year as it had run out by the time I got there. From the Scottish bar, Lord Kelvin was pretty good for a half pint, but after that it got a bit much, not sure why.
Spent most of the time on the English beers. Old Stoatwobbler was pretty good, as was the Iceni Brewery's Men of Norfolk (probably my favourite of the night, that one). From the lighter ales, Norfolk Lavender Honey and (another Iceni beer) Celtic Queen were very pleasant. The Tipples Brewery's Ginger was definitely made with ginger. I liked it, but I think some people weren't so sure.
Given the amount of running around I have had today getting stuff for the flat and the carpet laying fun still to come, I am not sure I shall make it back to the festival, but if I can... It's pretty tempting.
ETA: Forgot to say, just a note for the cider drinkers - there was almost no cider there last night (there was Green Goblin, and that's all). A sign said that there had been an accident, hence the lack of the cider, and they were hoping to have some supplied later in the festival.
