I'm finally back from Middle-earth (because technically, Europe takes up the middle portion of the world, we of Asia takes up the East and America(s) take up the West. Fair, no?) and despite the volcanic ash incident and the subsequent closure of the airports at Norway, Sweden and the UK (I *had* thought to hop over to the UK awhile due to the cancelled trips to Norway/Swedene but then the great England decided to shut down ALL the airports, so it's no go =w=;;;), the tour people arranged a last-minute-back-up-trip to tour Venice (Italy), Austria, Germany, Luxembourg, through Brussels at Belgium before hitting Amsterdam at Holland - because the plane to get back to Malaysia is at Amsterdam, and due to the volcanic ash, all domestic flights have been cancelled. So YES, we literally took the bus up from Milan to Venice and all the way trudging half past Europe just so we can board up the plane at Amsterdam to get back home.
Suffice to say, it IS an exhausting trip. 7 days riding the bus to different countries everyday, and the lugging of luggages up and down different hotels with each stop is enough to make half the bunch swear off travelling by next year :S But this is FAR MUCH BETTER than waiting at the airport for a few days due to the flight cancellations - the other half who didn't join the Europe tour and *insist* to return home had to endure a 2-day 20-hour journey from Milan to Amsterdam, and had to spend the night in the bus before they can finally get a confirmed plane back to Malaysia. (I know, it's horrid.)
Of all times for the volcano to blow up - we hit Amsterdam at 7am in the morning, flew off to Milan and touched down there at 9am, and 1 hour later the volcano erupted. Talk about being lucky here.
(and of ALL the volcanoes to blow up, the one at Iceland had to do it. And Iceland is like, bordering near Norway/Sweden and just opposite the UK. I had half-suspected it might be some attempt by that ol' vengeful war god Odin to stop this Trickster God from re-entering the old Nordic territory and unleash some Pre-Ragnarok waste on the land - I mean, c'mon, what's the odds of a slumbering mountain in sleepy Iceland to suddenly up and spew ash at this time of the year? And during the time when I'm about to make my journey there? Someone, obviously, knew of my coming...I dare say it's a bleedin' conspiracy!)
Anyway, that's all I'm gonna spew (pun unintended). I'll be posting photos by batch because I took an awful lots of photos (yes to you, Mweeble! >D) and I bought an extra memory card (2GB at E22.50!!) at Fussen, Germany to load moar XD;
And due to the large amount of photos, I'll load them all off at FB first, then post up their links here - it'll be set to Public profile so that non-FB users can see it too :DDD
I should be online tonight ;)
