SIFF has a bunch of "unusual" classics in December:
- They're starting off with The Wizard of Oz the weekend of Dec. 3-5. However for the 9:30 shows on the 3rd and 4th, they're replacing the regular soundtrack with Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon to create the much-fabled Dark Side of Oz! For the record, I'm in the camp that believe "the suspiciously amazing synchronicity" can be attributed to the human tendency to pick and choose data in order to see patterns and correspondences where they don't exist. But it's a really cool example of that, and I'm currently planning to go to the Friday night show. (The Saturday and Sunday afternoon showings are perfectly normal.)
- Dec. 10-12: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in Smell-o-vision! I went last time they did this, and it was a serious hoot for the young and young at heart. Goodie-bags with props to be used at key points, sing-a-long sheets, people in costume doing a floorshow before it starts: how can you resist?
- Dec. 17-19: Labyrinth Quote/Sing-Along. With DYI sock-puppet making stations before the show!
Now, as I said, I'm so going to all of these - who else is interested? Come on, don't make me have to solo all three...
