Well, this is going to be interesting: The McGuire, a nine year old highrise apartment at 2nd and Wall,
is coming down later this year. Apparently, there were fundamental flaws in construction, and it's cheaper to raze the building and start over than remediate in place. The tenants were just informed, and offered packages to get them out faster, this weekend.
As
another article already asks, how do you bring down a 25-floor building in the middle of Belltown?
(Note for the record: this isn't my building, or next door; it's about three blocks toward downtown by two blocks uphill.)
