I'm going to have a garden! And a yard! And a lavender bush! And a mortgage payment and what if it all goes horribly wrong?... and I don't know how to pack and I have to move all my things and aaaaaa!

i am not an entirely sane person

Congrats!

Packing to move within the same city is different than packing to move across the country. You can put soft things like clothes into trash bags and take multiple trips over several days.

though my new lavender bush is very unhappy, or possibly even dead. I am not pleased.

As far as packing goes, banker's boxes are a great way to deal with anything small enough to fit into them. But you knew that.

Also, you should be in the process right now of packing anything you aren't going to need to live for the next week. I assume you're renting a truck; while the Absolutely Critical part is getting all the furniture moved using it, you can fit an order of magnitude more boxes in even a small U-Haul than you can in a car...and one trip is better than ten.

Make sure you have a box or two containing towels, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies...these are things you will need pretty much immediately upon moving in and not having to dig through 30 boxes for them is a Good Thing.

If you take possession before your moving date, seriously consider cleaning the floors/carpets whatever *before* you put Stuff all over them. (Our floor tile grout is unsealed...if we'd not been In An Insane Hurry, we'd have gotten that taken care of before rendering large chunks of said grout inaccessible.)

It is mine now. I've been accumulating paint-related things (there are 2 really ugly walls, and several badly painted ones; they will soon all be "pale crocus", if all goes well). And I'm bringing over a bag with TP, soap, and anything else that occurs to me tomorrow (technically today ( ... )
