Open to all - this will not end well basstardchuck October 12 2009, 17:24:41 UTC
Chuck wondered what on Earth was he doing at Tony's apartment. He wondered the same thing ever since Foster invited him and Blair. Not only he was American, but the last Thanksgiving he spent in Monaco... It was safe to say he was not big on family gatherings. Fact that there would be maybe three people he actually know didn't help the situation. The entire trip to Tony's apartment, he kept thinking he should just pass on the party and take Blair out for dinner instead.

Didn't change the fact that he showed up with three bottles of the best red wine he had at Victrola, those damn rolls Tony demanded and tiny hope that this would not end in a disasster.

At some point in early evening, perhaps just as dinner was wrapping up, a face Chuck might recognize knocked on the door and was admitted to the apartment.

This time, the nurse was juggling a handful of pies and other delicacies for dessert!

It was a familiar face. And Chuck appreciated the familiar face so much more when it wasn't showing up in hospital in the middle of Chuck's mental rant... There was even a small smirk on Chuck's face, though it was a matter of discussion whether or not the smirk was caused by Thom or by the delicacies he was carrying.

He walked up to the man and looked at the pies, wondering if any of those was a pumpkin pie Blair liked so much.

"You need help with those?"

Thom had dressed impeccably for a dinner party, even if his intention was just to drop off the pies, be polite for a couple of minutes and then skitter back under his rock of mortification. Still, you went to someone's for dinner you dressed respectably and so, he had a suit and tie on. A suit that almost ended up with blood pudding on it when Chuck's voice made him jump.

Looking over quickly, Thom blinked as it took him a breath to place the face and then he gave the man a polite smile.

"Actually, if you could make a little room on that table right over there?"

Yes, there was homemade pumpkin pie in the stack!

Have you ever seen Eden take over a kitchen? Because she's done just that; she's lost track of both Tony and Matt, and she's poring over the turkey and the stuffing and the foods that have been listed as traditional that she's not entirely sure she's doing right.

But there are enough buns and different kinds of bread to feed an army.

Bother her at your own peril.

At some point Chuck had to go to the kitchen. Mostly to see if there was something stronger to drink, because as much as he l... tolerated Foster, there was no way he would be able to last through the entire dinner while completely sober.

Seeing Eden in the kitchen... was fascinating. He leaned against the doorframe. It was like a trainwreck. You knew it was bad for you, but you couldn't look away.

There's silence for a long time, and she's cooking like a madwoman, tasting things, sticking things in the oven, and finally, without looking up she says, "Bass, if you're goin' to stand there like a fuckin' waste yeh could at least peel me some spuds, yeah?"

Even though she knows that Chuck probably can't peel potatoes worth a damn.

He grimaced at that. "You're joking, yes? Even if I knew what those spuds," he pronounced the word with slight distaste, "are, you don't honestly think I'd simply go and peel them..."

Riddiculous thought. He was Chuck Bass, not some hired help.

Tara had been drafted, and really, it was her pleasure to be here. She liked Tony (even if he tended to rankle her protective instincts) and she understood the desire to form a family in this place. She could never refuse such a generous invitation in good faith.

That said, she didn't expect to know anyone besides Tony (and Thom if he behaved himself and showed up like a good little nurse) and while Tara had come a very long way from the awkward, stuttering wallflower of freshman year, she was still a bit shy around people she didn't know. So she accepted the glass of wine someone or other pressed into her hand, but stayed mostly unobtrusive, off to the side of the room where she wouldn't butt into anyone's conversations.

Tony spotted Tara hanging back from the crowd and moved over to make his greetings.

"Thanks for coming," he said, a grin twitching the corners of his mouth. "I think that's one of Victrola's best vintages there. Chuck doesn't skimp."

"He really doesn't." She smiled at him over the top of the glass. "Thank you for inviting me, Tony. How are you?"

"I'm good." He nodded back to her.

"A little worried about how many people we can fit around the table. I didn't really figure out the logistics of this beforehand," he said, a little sheepishly as he looked around the crowded apartment. "But I'm glad everybody showed up. We'll nearly everybody."

Thom was a good little nurse, not only because Henry had used logic to get him moving but also because he didn't want to disappoint either Tara or Tony.

Still, he didn't arrive till probably after the main courses had been enjoyed, a combination of the emergency work shift at the hospital, baking the pies and of course getting dressed for dinner. Because he was dressed up, in a nice suit and tie.

He carried three pies through the door, a hazelnut pumpkin pie, a strawberry-rhubarb pie and finally a pie involving more chocolate and butterscotch than was good for anyone's arteries.

The last one was his apology pie to Tony.

Tony was carting another stack of dishes to the kitchen when Thom came in. He gave the other man a wave, wobbled the dishes a little, and then decided he'd better put them down before he went to talk to him.

When he came back out he was flushed from the heat of the kitchen, eyes sparkling with the excitement of the evening.

"Hey, you made it," he said, hand open to take a pie from Thom's juggling hands.

As luck would have it, Chuck Bass had helped get the pies to safety and they were now sitting on a table ready to be eaten.

Thom, hands neatly folded behind his back, smiled at Tony.

"Good evening, Tony. It looks like you've thrown quite the successful dinner party."

"It's mostly thanks to Eden's cooking skills," Tony admitted with a sheepish rub of the back of his neck. "All I did was open the door and put plates out, really."

Open, but expecting a few people who probably know who they are... missesthestars October 12 2009, 20:23:48 UTC
Promise really wasn't certain to what to expect for the evening, but she'd told Tony that she would come and she always kept her word. Although she was apprehensive for what the evening could hold (not that anyone who didn't know her very well could tell), the atmosphere was warm and for the moment, inviting.

She, too, had brought some nice wines and separating from Niko for the moment, she went off in search of a host to give them too.

It was still early yet, so Promise had little to worry about. Henry wouldn't be arriving until well after sundown, what with him having to get up, try on a million different outfits, grab a bite to eat, and then make his way to the apartment.

Tony came over to welcome her with a smile.

"Hey," he said, "thanks for coming."

"The pleasure is all mine, Tony. You seem to have quite the full house this evening."

Promise offered the bottles to Tony, "I hope these go toward making the night more enjoyable?"

"The apartment's small so it probably looks more crowded," Tony admitted, taking the bottles from her and tucking them under his arm.

"These'll do great. I think Chuck's made it a personal mission to down a bottle an hour all by himself, really."
