Originally, I was going to review each chapter of Hunger Games as I finished it. It quickly became clear that I read a bit too fast for that to be at all acceptable as far as my brain is concerned. I started reading last night and I am currently on Chapter 11. So I am just going to post my reactions between reading jags.
For those living under a rock or - like me - reluctant to give the books a try in case they disappointed after all the hype, Hunger Games is the first of a YA SF trilogy by author Suzanne Collins. The books are set in a dystopian, hard-scrabble world where the rich, indulgent Capitol survives on the graft of the poorer, oppressed Districts. The book’s heroine, Katniss Everdeen (I keep wanting to call her Evergreen due to her affinity for forests) is from the poorest of the Districts: District 12.
