At work and very, very sleepy. Remember, kids: staying up all night is STUPID. It is never not stupid unless you have a deadline, and even then it's probably the result of being stupid earlier on.

I am the prime example of this. Last time I stayed up all night was a uni night and I got about 2 hours or less of sleep and got very sick for the rest of the week. This isn't that bad. I went to sleep at about a quarter to six-- see also, idiocy-- and got about five to six hours. I actually survived a whole semester on that last year. But I am dehydrated and headachey and mildly feverish, which is generally a good sign that HAY THAR, THAT WAS TEH DUMB.

Anyway. My last update was... about two days ago. After that I had to unplug my computer to be sent to the computer store because I was having a USB problem (actually I've been having a USB problem for months, but I was like NO MY PRECIOUS I NEEDS IT YOU WILL NOT TAKE IT AWAY! up until then), and by the time I was done with transferring the files I felt I couldn't live without to my parents' laptop, putting certain things on the net, and burning off an audio CD with songs I felt I couldn't do without, it was past 4am. So about 7 hours sleep, the night before last. XD

Mari dropped over for a few hours in the afternoon, about the same time my parents went out-- and I forgot to mention, but my dad is on long service leave at the moment. I'm cool with this, despite the fact he makes me get out of bed at around 11-12, because we tend to get on pretty well and he's much quieter and less obtrusive than my mother when we're both home.

Ebony is a getting very clingy as a result of people being home a lot and every time anyone sits down she attempts to launch herself into their lap, invited or not. LAPTOP ALREADY IN LAP OR NOT.

So like I said, my parents went out, and when they came home they'd apparently been on a DIABETES SHOPPING SPREE.

Well, not quite, but they came home with a 1kg pack of jelly beans, sugar-free chocolate, sugar-free raspberry drops, a spare insulin pen (after forgetting it the other day dad freaked, understandably) and a new (expensive) testing metre. It feels a little strange to be excited by something like that when I wouldn't even need it if I weren't diabetic, but my reaction to all the stuff was like "OH YEY COOL!"

In addition, there was a new pair of cord pants. Because most of my clothes are too big. *spoilt*

Parents also said that there's this new long-acting insulin (I have two types) and apparently it works much better to stop high sugars. I knew that because my endocrinologist had mentioned it to me and said it'd probably be good for me. However, it's not on the government-funded PBS list yet, not until later this year. If we tried to get it now, it'd be $180 a month. Mum is like "THAT'S OKAY" but I think maybe it would be better to wait... we'll see.

Back to the whole 6 am thing, though, you might be wondering: Wtf were you DOING, you moron? Well, I was being obsessive neat-freaky, and I was reformatting (and doing minor edits to) every. single. fic. on my freaking ficblog. The later ones it's more the minor edits than the reformatting, obviously.

Having spent all last night and four hours today in that pursuit, I have gotten from the very first entry (mid March 2003 some time) to Christmas last year.

*SHUDDER* CHRISTMAS.

Nah, it's not that bad. It's interesting to reread some of my fics, especially the ones that are not that old but I haven't looked at for a while.

On the fic requests from last post, I haven't forgotten about them, but there was some stuff that needed doing first for my peace of mind. (Yeah, like the reformatting. Also I prefer being on my desktop, which I got back today. More on that later.) I have another fic that needs writing tonight, but I will get to them.

As for the computer, yesterday the computer store were all "Problem with motherboard! we can send back on warranty and it'll take several weeks, or you can pay $129 for us to fit the same model!"

Us: *NOT IMPRESSED*

So because Dad's firm is a big client, he rang up the Bill, who deals with the computers at work as well as conveyancing, and Bill was like "We will take our business elsewhere! >O" and Fairstar were all, "... You know what? We will SO fit that other motherboard for free."

Which they should have done in the first place. I'm thankful for dad's connections, but we shouldn't have HAD to go to those lengths.

On a final note, happy birthday to graymm, link621 and mdkitten!

My lj entries are too long.
